Divine Light - Blue Version
This beautiful and unique ebru with the name "Allah" in the akkase style comes in a canvas print.
What is Ebru?
Ebru is a traditional Turkish art of water marbling. It started centuries ago in Asia Minor and became popular in Turkey. It was used for book binding and as a background for official papers- to avoid any falsification of the documents!
The technique uses water mixed with carrageenan to enhance its viscosity, natural pigments usually found in the earth and natural products to help the pigments transfer to the paper. Also, brushes made of rose twigs and horsehair are used to sprinkle the paints which are then made into various designs using combs and other tools.
Akkase is Turkish for stencil and this artwork is a double ebrued piece where the first layer is prepared and the paper is dried and flattened . Once dry, a stencil- in this case "Allah" in Arabic calligraphy- is applied on the paper and the ebru process is repeated, this time using different colors and design. The stencil is carefully removed to reveal a unique and captivating art piece.
